A software studionamed for a knot.

Nyansa Studio is a software studio based in Ghana, working remotely with clients internationally.

We build software for service businesses, and we operate our own products — so the decisions we argue for are ones we have had to live with.

The name

Clients tend to arrive with something tangled.

Nyansa
The Akan word for wisdom.
Nyansapo
The wisdom knot, from a proverb about a knot untied only by the wise. Most of what we are asked to do is some version of that.

What we do

We design and build web and mobile products, add automation to systems that already run, and advise teams without an in-house technical lead.

Much of the client work so far has been for businesses that coordinate services across borders — study-abroad consultancies, medical tourism operators — where the software has to hold up against documents, agent networks and money that moves between countries.

Codewave

The studio grew out of Codewave, a developer channel on YouTube. It has been going three years and has 8.9k subscribers.

Teaching a thing publicly is a reliable way to find out whether you actually understand it — and explaining a decision to an audience that will tell you when you are wrong is good practice for explaining it to a client.

WyllFlow

We built and operate WyllFlow, an all-in-one client operating system for freelancers and service businesses: leads, estimates, contracts with e-signature, invoicing, payments and a client portal.

One architectural decision is worth stating, because it shaped everything downstream: WyllFlow never touches its users’ money. Users connect their own payment accounts and collect directly from their clients. That closed off some product options and removed a category of risk a small studio has no business carrying.

Running it is also why we argue about maintenance decisions the way we do. When you are the one answering the support message, the cost of a shortcut stops being theoretical.

Sends the invoice. Never holds the payment.
